Profile

Professor John Chong, male, born in 1983, Malaysian. He is a Chartered Builder (MCIOB), and Registered Arbitrator. He owns a PhD degree in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management). He brings with him a sound understanding in project management and engineering audit. He has a strong track record of coherent research outputs in the top refereed journal articles and has successfully secured a number of competitive research grants from funding bodies in Australia, Malaysia, China, Middle East, and Japan. He has a growing profile and is actively involved in professional bodies and industry engagements including Editorial Board Member in International Journal of Project Management; Buildings; Advances in Civil Engineering, etc.

His research direction is centered on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the realms of project management and engineering audit. His interdisciplinary research endeavors, encompassing a variety of projects and scholarly papers, address pressing and intricate challenges, highlighting the multifaceted approach necessary to resolve complex issues within engineering audit and other fields. This approach is essential because contemporary problems in engineering audit frequently necessitate insights from multiple disciplines. To date, his contributions are of both practical and academic significance, with the publication of 3 books, 7 book chapters, and over 150 articles in top-tier journals, including more than 60 papers ranked in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) Q1 category. Additionally, he has successfully secured 16 research projects, both domestically and internationally, with a combined funding of approximately 10 million RMB.
