On the 15th and 16th of December, 2017, 48 international students of 2016 Chinese Government Scholarship Auditing Master Program (CGSAMP) from 34 countries or regions participated in the activity of “Know About China —— Experiencing Chinese Audit and Culture”.
This activity is sponsored by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and organized by Nanjing Audit University. During this two-day activity, the 2016 CGSAMP students took a trip to Beijing and visited China National Audit Office (CNAO) and the Palace Museum, aiming to know more about the Chinese auditing system and the Chinese traditional culture.
Their trip started from taking the “Fuxinghao” high-speed train, the latest model of Chinese high-speed train, travelling at the speed of 350 km/h. It took only 3 hours and a half to travel from Nanjing South Railway Station to Beijing. They were shocked by the speed and comfort, calling it “China Speed”.
Their first visit in Beijing was the CNAO. They visited the library and the big data center of CNAO, observing how the modern technology was applied in the auditing practice in China today. They are met by Auditor General of CNAO, Madame Hu Zejun, and Deputy Auditor General of CNAO, Sun Baohou.
In her talk to the 2016 CGSAMP students, Madame Hu Zejun emphasized two major points. Firstly, they should live up to the expectation from their respective SAIs and keep firm in their mind their mission to study hard and equip themselves with knowledge concerning auditing and other areas to promote the audit causes in their own countries. Secondly, they should become envoys of friendship between countries. They should learn more about the Chinese culture and contribute their own bits to the establishment of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Party Secretary of Nanjing Audit University, Prof. Yan Weilong summarized the work that has been done in the cultivation of the CGSAMP students, and expressed his gratitude for the ceaseless support from CNAO.
The Academic Coordinator of 2016 CGSAMP students, Toufique Shafiqul Islam from Bangladesh, also expressed his gratitude on behalf of all the students to Madame Hu Zejun as well as the former Auditor General Liu Jiayi for supporting the program. He felt honored to have this opportunity to study in China thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative. He pledged that he would put what he learned in China into the real practice to promote the audit cause of his own country. He wished an ever-lasting friendship between CNAO and SAIs in different countries.
Their second visit is the Palace Museum. The mysterious Palace Museum used to appear in their lectures of Chinese Culture. They were so excited to see the ancient royal palace with their own eyes. They started to find different dragons and count the numbers of ridge animals that are an essential part of the architecture and Chinese traditional culture. They listened to the stories of long ago with great enthusiasm and selfied with the background of the ancient architecture. They are amazed at the time-honored historical relics.
This two-day trip served as a platform for the international students to know more about China’s today and the past. It helped them to match the knowledge from the book with their own experience. They might have a past that is totally different from ours, yet people all the over the world will make joint efforts to establish a community with a shared future for mankind.
