After three-day national holiday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-45) and the end of World War II, the new semester of 2015-2016 academic year really ignited its engine, the symbol of which, is at 8:30, Sept 6, 2015, Nanjing Audit University held the opening ceremony for 2015 Freshmen at the newly-constructed Hongyuan Stadium.
Nearly 4,000 freshmen, including undergraduates, post-graduates and international students were all present to witness this grand opening ceremony. The NAU leadership, professor representatives and international teachers faculty representative participated in the opening ceremony. NAU President, Prof. Yan Weilong, delivered his welcome speech, on behalf of all the faculty members, to the freshmen, to congratulate and encourage the newcomers to focus on their learning with distinctive objectives. President and Prof. Yan also sent his best wishes to nine freshmen, whose birthday fall on Sept. 6.
Following President and Prof. Yan’s speech, the representatives of Chinese and international teachers faculty Ms. Lyu Chao and Mr. Omar Lughod respectively delivered their congratulation and welcome speeches. Ms. Lyu encourages students to be “brave in exploration, rich in knowledge, handsome in integrity, sweet in smile, graceful in manners and pure in spirit”, while Mr. Lughod, according to his own personal experience, suggested students to learn to be calm, as he has learned it in China, in face of obstacles and difficulties in study and later in their career.
The Opening Ceremony for 2015 Freshmen ended with the chorus of NAU anthem.
