The orientation of overseas students of School of International Exchange (Autumn 2014) was held in Minda building on the afternoon of September 4. More than 60 overseas students from Morocco, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Indonesia, Italy, South Africa, and Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China) and other countries and regions took part in the orientation. Dr. Wei Changdong, vice dean of School of International Exchange (SIE), Ms. Nada Biaz, Director of ISCAE-CASABLANCA and her colleague Professor Fouad Machrouh were also invited to take part in the orientation.

Dr. Wei delivered a welcome speech to the freshmen, and encouraged students to accustom to the life and study in China as soon as possible. He also advised the students to strengthen mutual communication with Chinese students and cherish the opportunity to study and live NAU. He also shared his expectation with the students: Making friends with a Chinese student, making friends with a Chinese teacher, giving one lecture of their culture to Chinese students, and giving one lecture about Chinese culture when they are back.

Ms. Zhang Yin from SIE gave a brief introduction of Nanjing Audit University, and explained the rules and regulations of the university, together with the arrangement of lots of activities for this semester. Besides, she also introduced the mainly responsibilities of SIE, and encouraged freshmen to take an active part in extracurricular activities to enrich their study lives.

The representative of ISCAE-CASABLANCA expressed their gratitude for NAU’s considerate work, and put forward the requirements and expectations on freshmen from Morocco.

The chairman of NAU Overseas Students’ Union (NOSU) Leonardo Prayudha and the representative of Chinese volunteer Winnie Wang on behalf of their group also gave speeches. They respectively introduced the structure and division of functions of NOSU and all kinds of activities and events they prepared for overseas students, and invited them to take an active part in activities, strengthen the mutual understanding and harvest the friendship. The freshmen also communicated with the teachers and the upperclassmen present about the issues they cared about.

The orientation enhanced the overseas students’ understanding of Chinese laws together with the rules and regulations of NAU, promoted the sense of belonging to NAU, and set a good foundation for overseas students’ studying and living in NAU.
